Lew & Margaret Dowdell of the ALBANY VIEW ST LODGE B & B accommodation welcome you to our website. Our accommodation is only a short walk to the centre of the main York St in Albany and is located in a very quiet part of town. Albany was actually proclaimed a city on July 1st 1998 and is the earliest settlement in Western Australia. The town was founded in 1830. Its population of about 34,000 is spread around the beautiful twin hills of Mt Melville and Mt Clarence and has wonderful views of King George Sound and Princess Royal Harbour. The Forts and historical buildings are a must to visit.

Albany is renowned as one of the most beautiful resorts in Western Australia and is well known for its historical buildings, fishing, sailing, diving, sightseeing, bushwalking & farming to name a few. The coastline is STUNNING, so visitors should plan to stay a few days to take it all in. Whale-watching (late June - October)is very exciting and popular. Visitors should not fail to visit the many WINERIES and Arts & Crafts places in this region - such as in the Porongurps, Mt.Barker, & Denmark. You need at least a week!! There's so much!

Albany boasts many excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs and ALBANY VIEW ST LODGE B & B is ideally located being within easy walking distance.

ALBANY VIEW ST LODGE B & B offers RAC **** quality accommodation with off-street parking and separate guest entrance.
We offer 3 semi-self contained suites each with an Ensuite, quality Queen sized beds, linen & towels (Suite 1 also has a single bed), electric blankets, TV, DVD player, fridge, microwave, crockery/glassware, tea/coffee making facilities, heating, hairdryer, clock radio etc. Each suite is serviced daily with fresh towels provided. (Suites 1 & 3 have mini kitchens).

This Suite is larger - it has a bedroom with a queen and a single bed. The other room serves as a lounge/dining and has a mini kitchen. It opens out on to the covered patio area and gardens.

Suite Two

This Suite is extremely comfortable and gets the morning sun even though it does not have any views. It is one large room with a Queen sized bed, two comfortable armchairs and a coffee table plus a small dining table & chairs)

Suite Three

This Suite is very light and bright and open on to its own patio area. It is not as large as the other two but does have a mini kitchen.

Our guests enjoy the lovely gardens and patio and are welcome to use the BBQ. Laundry & ironing facilities are available on request.

Your hosts LEW & MARGARET have a genuine interest in people of all cultures and have owned ALBANY VIEW ST LODGE B & B/ART STUDIO since June 2001.

LEW has spent most of his life on his farm at Harrismith (in the Upper Great Southern part of WA) and still has farming interests there. He has been involved in all community activities including football, cricket and golf. He is very well known in Western Australia for his success in lawn bowls having won and played in finals of Country Week Bowls in Perth. He is known for playing pennant bowls with Wickepin Bowling Club and Emu Point Bowling Club,Albany and also for being a regular member of both the Upper Great Southern and Great Southern League squads for many years.

MARGARET emigrated from England in 1966 and has resided in Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide as well as having travelled extensively. Following a successful career in Perth as a Shopping Centre Manager and Property Manager, she married Lew in 1998 and a year later retired and left the city to live on his farm the in wheatbelt town of Harrismith . The front reception area at ALBANY VIEW ST LODGE B & B forms part of a studio/gallery making it an interesting area for guests to browse. CLICK HERE to view some of Margaret's paintings!

Both LEW & MARGARET love watching sport (nowadays mostly on TV because of the business) but Margaret swims regularly and occasionally they can enjoy a game of golf together.
